Transitions are possible among study programmes:

  1. which upon the completion of studies ensure the acquisition of comparable competencies;
  2. among which according to the criteria for acknowledgment at least half of the obligations under the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (hereinafter: ECTS) are acknowledged from the first study programme which refer to compulsory subjects of another study programme.

Conditions and number of called posts for the continuation of studies according to the Criteria for transitions are determined by the Senate of the Faculty of Medicine University of Maribor for each year separately. Conditions and number of posts are published in the Call for enrolment. For the transition among study programmes what counts is termination of student's education in the study programme into which he/she is enroled and the continuation of education in the new study programme.

The transition is possible only among study programmes of the same level – the transition from medical studies and dental medicine. The transition to the study programme Dental Medicine is possible only in the 2nd year.

Upon the transition among study programmes of the same level the following criteria are taken into account:

  • fulfilment of general enrolment conditions which are determined for enrolment to the 1st year,
  • successful conclusion of the 1st year of studies in the programme of previous institution (all 60 ECTS points)
  • average mark at least 8.5 or more.

Applications of candidates for the transition to the study programme Dental Medicine are dealt with by the Commission for Student Affairs of the Faculty of Medicine University of Maribor. In case many candidates are applied, the candidates will be chosen on the basis of success in the studies so far. The Commission for Student Affairs of the Faculty of Medicine University of Maribor, in the procedure of acknowledging previous education for the purpose of the continuation of studies at the Faculty of Medicine University of Maribor, determines bridging examinations in the subjects which differ from the study programme Dental Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine University of Maribor.

 

 

 

 

 


According to article 85 of the Statute of UM (Off. G. No. 14/2020) the students enrol in higher study years if they have completed all obligations determined with the study program and the Statute of UM. The Student Affairs Committee can on student request by way of exception approve enrolment to a higher level to students who have not completed all obligations if they have completed more than a half of their obligations, if they could not complete the obligations for justifiable reasons and can be expected they will complete them in the time that the committee will grant them.

A student may progress to the next year if he fulfils the requirements defined in the program. To advance to the next year of study, the student must fulfil requirements in the scope of 54 credit points, namely from the following subjects:

  • from the 1st to the 2nd year of study: 54 credit points from the 1st year of study and passed exams in: Anatomy with histology and embryology, Cell biology, Chemistry, Basics of Biophysics, Introduction to Dental Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Biochemistry, Communication in Dental Medicine, Research Work in Medicine with Medical Statistics, Molecular biology with genetics.
  • from the 2nd to the 3rd year of study: 54 credit points from the 2nd year of study and passed exams in: Physiology, Microbiology, Immunology and Oral Microbiology, Public Health and Professional Cooperation, Dental Morphology, Pharmacology and Toxicology, General Pathology, one optional subject and all 1st year exams passed.
  • from the 3rd to the 4th year of study: 54 credit points from the 3rd year of study and passed exams in: Pathology-Special Pathology, Anesthesiology, Clinical Medicine 1, General and Dental Radiology, Dental Materials, Propedeutics of Dental Medicine, Removable prosthodontics 1, Surgery, Clinical Medicine 2, Internal Medicine with Propedeutics, Fixed Prosthetics 1, Dental Dental Pathology (Preclinic) and all 2nd year exams passed.
  • from the 4th to the 5th year of study: 54 credit points from the 4th year of study and passed exams in: Oral Surgery 1, Prevention in Dentistry and Oral Hygiene, Fixed Prosthetics 2, Removable prosthodontics 2, Gnathology, Infectious Diseases, Dental Pathology, Pediatric dentistry 1, Oral Surgery 1, Periodontology 1, Medical ethics and Law, Forensic Medicine and Forensic Dental Medicine and all 3rd year exams passed.
  • from the 5th to the 6th year of study: 54 credit points from the 5th year of study and passed exams in: Fixed Prosthetics 3, Removable prosthodontics 3, Endodontics 1, Periodontology 2, Oral Medicine, Oral Surgery 2, Pediatric dentistry 2, Preclinical Orthodontics, Evidence Based Medicine-Health Economics, Patient Safety, Quality in Healthcare, Rehabilitation in Dental Medicine, Orthodontics 1 and all 4th year exams passed.

From year to year a transfer of maximally two subjects within 6 ECTS is facilitated.

 

 

 

 

 


For the uniform master’s degree study program Dental Medicine can apply:

  1. who passes the Matura examination,
  2. who has before June 1, 1995 finished any 4-year secondary school program.

All candidates must have a level of knowledge of the Slovenian language at the C2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). As a fulfilment of this admission requirement a completed course of the subject of the Slovenian language at the baccalaureate or in the last year of a secondary school is taken into account when the lectures have been given, a certificate of a passed exam in the Slovenian language at the level C2 is taken into account or any other equivalent document as well.

If the resolution about the enrolment limitation will be accepted, the candidates from item a) will be chosen according to:

  • overall success at Matura – 35 % of points
  • overall success in the 3rd and 4th year of secondary school – 20 % of points
  • success at individual subjects from Matura: mathematics, foreign language and one subject of natural science (biology, physics or chemistry) – 45 % of points

the candidates from item b) will be chosen according to:

  • overall success at final exams – 35 % of points
  • overall success in the 3rd and 4th year of secondary school – 20 % of points
  • success in mathematics or foreign language at final exams, and success in one of the subjects from natural science (biology, physics or chemistry) at final exams or in the last year of secondary school when the subject was carried out – 45 % of points
