GRANT FOR ACCOMMODATION OFFERED TO UNDERGRADUATES

(TRIESTE, ITALY, 28-30 SEPTEMBER 2012)

The first edition of Trieste Next – European Innovation and Science Research Forum will be held in Trieste, from 28 to 30 September 2012.

The event is promoted by the Municipality of Trieste, the University of Trieste and Nordesteuropa, with the aim to foster the knowledge of Trieste’s excellent background on science and research.

On the way to the nomination of “Venice with Nordest" European Capital of Culture 2019, Trieste wants to promote its vocation as European Capital of science research with an initiative that aims at stimulating interaction among research, business and citizenry.

Thanks to its ‘frontier’ position between Old and New Europe, Trieste is a strategic meeting place between the “scientific heritage” of the town and of the entire North-eastern Italian region on one side, and the rich entrepreneurial system of Mitteleurope, countries of New Europe and Balkans on the other.

A Scientific Committee chaired by figures of international prestige such as the astrophysicist Margherita Hack, the Minister for the Environment Corrado Clini and the entrepreneur Diana Bracco will open the first edition of this Forum, whose main topic will be “S.A.V.E. the Food”, with SAVE standing for “Sustainability, Authenticity, Variety and Experience”. The Forum will feature a rich programme of debates, keynote presentations, laboratory activities with an aim to foster debate on the key topics of innovation and scientific research.

For three days, then, Trieste Next will liven up the city by organizing many different events and meetings, with the participation of world-renowned figures from the world of research, economy and culture, such as: Carlo Rubbia, Helga Nowotny, Francesco Peroni, Corrado Passera, Renato Balduzzi, Francesco Profumo, Ilaria Capua, Robert Darnton, Edoardo Boncinelli, Cameron Neylon, Mario Catania, Francesca Matteucci, Lidia Brito.

A great event that aims in particular to involve young students from Italian and foreign universities, to whom Trieste Next offers a unique opportunity to meet and exchange ideas through active participation in the debates on the topics of this first edition.

To that end, the Organization offers to undergraduates a limited number of grants to take part in the Forum, which include:

-       food and accommodation in Trieste in one of our partner structures during the three days of events (from lunch on Friday, 28th to lunch on Sunday, 30th)

-       free entry in all events and in the programme of activities reserved to undergraduates

Travel costs will not be reimbursed.

The complete schedule of events will be available within the next few weeks on www.triestenext.it

To ask for accommodation, you must fill out the application form available on our website and send it by e-mail to admin@triestenext.it or via fax at (+39) 049 8230053 by 31 August 2012.
